FICE Romania (The International Federation of Educational Communities - Romania Section) organizes, on May 13, 2021, the International Conference “The Family in the 21st Century”.

The purpose of this conference, organized on the occasion of International Family Day, is to highlight the influence of social, economic and demographic processes affecting the traditional Romanian family, to promote viable models for social protection of children and families in our country.

International Family Day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly on 20 September 1993, by resolution A / RES / 47/237, as a fixed-date event on 15 May each year and reflects the importance that the international community attaches to the family.

The event will be organized in partnership with the National Authority for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Children and Adoption (ANDPDCA), the Association of Romanian Communes (ACoR), the Association of Directors of the General Directorates of Social Assistance and Child Protection (AD-DGASPC) and is addressed to professionals in the field of child protection, education, health, justice, local authorities, religious services etc., meeting the needs of improving public policies, action practices on child protection and the family.

Your experience and also of the association that you represent would bring an extra scientific rigor to our conference and therefore please respectfully honor us with your presence at the event.

The event will take place online, on the zoom platform, between 14.00 - 16.00, PM Bucharest (Athens), and please confirm until May 7, 2021 your participation as an audience or participant with a presentation (in which case it will appear in the magazine Social Protection of the child, edited by FICE Romania, in the special section dedicated to the event) at the      e-mail fice.romania@yahoo.com, with the mention “Conference Registration”.

1/ Dear colleagues, here is a message by Carol Kelly, FICE USA, to all of you:

"Many of you many know that childhood poverty is a reality in the USA. There is an excellent overview of this reality presented in an interview with Marion Wright Edelman, National Children' Defense, by Tavis Smiley. This informative interview contains documented statistics/research and sound basis for the need to prioritize lessening/eliminating childhood poverty. The publication ENDING CHILD POVETY NOW is a recent publication which is a sound resource. This brief interview can be accessed through Google: Tavis Smiley March 9, 2015.  I think that the underlying rational of focusing on lessening/eliminating poverty being a core priority is applicable to all countries. Hope that you many find value in this resource. Welcome your sharing response and possible use/application in your countries.
Together we can advocate for reducing/ending childhood poverty!"
